钓虾 P r a w n i n g

Really didn't want to type this entry out but life has to go on. We went prawning the same day of the dognic. (I've been referring to prawns/prawning as the 'p' word. Till now.)

Alvie is doing a split!

Appropriate, somewhat similar footwear

Dinner (close to midnight)

Bored at the coffee shop waiting for the rest to leave bed/couch

Mel's lovely face!

Catch of the night

Stark contrast between the hardworking couple and the loafing couple.

Looking at those photos was really tough.

The outlet we went to is the one in Bishan. Usually I'd be doing recommendations by now but judging from my isolated food poisoning case, I'll skip that. Most people usually bring home their catch so it can be cleaned and cooked thoroughly so it's highly unlikely anyone would suffer the same fate I did. It was still a super fun first experience though!

Even if I do go again, I'll give away everything that I catch. The thrill of catching is the only fun thing for me now.

Dognic on 15 Dec '12

Before the night I got food poisoning, we went on a dognic. This has been planned since ages ago but we never really got down to it. Sad thing is that Velvet (Mel's darling) and Darren (Sundae's darling) couldn't make it, which means there has to be a next time!

Why so cute

You called?

Sundae loves Mel so much

Gotta love hanging out with great company, dogs included. More overdue entries coming up. Meanwhile, I'm sure everyone is having an extra lovely Christmas this year. I know I am.

Merry Christmas and have fun stuffing your faces!

List of

Things I'm busy with.

1. Food poisoning/ stomach flu
This is the worst of the lot. I got it after going prawning over the weekend. Was planning to have an entry with photos of that night but due to my current condition, I still feel nauseous whenever I see any form of seafood. So that entry has to wait until I feel way better. Day 4 into this and my stomach is still giving me a lot of pain, so I'm going to see my doctor later. The first batch of medicine that I got from a 24hr clinic was of no use whatsoever, and made me feel worse.

2. Essays and a project due
Into my last week of school and because of my stomach flu, everything that has to do with school is a complete mess. Getting so confused with deadlines of different subjects. Not a good time.

3. Managing appointments
Have no idea what is up with me fixing appointments on a day that I already have something going on. And it sucks having to call up the various places having to cancel and re-book the appointment on another day. What am I doing?!

4. Christmas shopping
Have not accomplished this at all.

Basically all plans screwed up because my body decided to fail me this very important week.

Why why why.

Eye Spy A Stye

My right eye is currently swollen and painful because the dreaded stye is back again. Haven't had it in ages so I guess it missed me and decided to make a painful comeback to make sure it hasn't been forgotten. It's a weird kind of pain that makes me feel like crying when I'm washing my face and that is really annoying!

So much work due this and next week that I have no extra energy to worry about my current horrid appearance with this swollen eye. I could go on and on complaining.

Tornado Taobao

Instead of shopping lesser after my Taobao shipment came in, I shopped even more. My email account is so full of invoices that I've lost track of what I've ordered and how much I've paid for everything. It's been crazy but I think I only go this crazy once/twice a year and that's towards the end of it. I don't even shop for new clothes when it comes to Chinese New Year!

Instant gratification seems to be my aim when I shop. Many friends/family have said this to me actually. When I see something I like, I just have to own it. It's like a compulsion to either buy something I already have and love it so much I need to have it in all colors, or buying something because it looks nice at that point in time and vowing to switch out my entire wardrobe to match that one item. This is why online shopping doesn't really work for me. I don't get to feel the item and hold it in my hands immediately after paying for it, so there isn't that instant gratification. Therefore, I shop more.

I hope not many people are like that because that's a sure-fire way to empty your bank account. Especially when you're subscribed to 81724632648 e-mailers from stores.

Inner conflict aside, I finally got to go for a pedicure session for my severely neglected feet. Was so excited to see they had the new OPI Skyfall collection which is extremely extremely pretty. I was spoiled for choice! (I haven't even watched the movie hahaha)

I don't have a pretty photo of my pretty toes yet but I chose Skyfall (which is a dark red) as a base and The Living Daylights (the festive glitter) as a top coat. My toes are so ready for Christmas!

Awwww

Usual conversations between Darren and I...

He was referring to his Kinokuniya membership card, which I had custody over. Or more like stole and forgot to return for weeks now.

Hamster's bloated face is baaack

On a particular day I went shopping at F21 and saw some cute boots!

After Whatsapping Mel frantically asking if it looked nice on me, if it would match this and that and was it worth the money... I found out that the zippers at the side of one boot was broken. She said it was a sign to not get it. I was pretty sad.

Well thankfully I didn't because this past weekend while I was out with my cousin, I found my ideal heeled oxfords from Seours located at Cineleisure! I've a pair of wedges from them which I love but don't get many chances to wear, so I was very happy to find a pair of oxfords that I could incorporate into my daily outfits. Will take photos for another entry :)

Pretty good ramen at the food basement of Ion

Under my best friend's recommendation (budding food connoisseur), I tried this Tu-Tu Kueh from a stall at the food basement of Ion and was quite impressed. It's unlike any TTK you get from night markets. The flour is so fragrant and doesn't disintegrate due to condensation. The coconut filling is so moist and doesn't get stuck to your teeth or in your throat. This picture was taken about 4-5hours after it was made because I brought it home for dessert. Do you see how intact it looks? I got my helper to steam it for 5mins so it would be warm and it was still good. 5 for $3.50 I think, but worth it! You won't miss the stall.

Napping

Her wet nose on my sheets ugh

My cousin brought me to try out this tiny Japanese eating place in Far East Plaza. I felt so claustrophobic eating there but I can see why there's always a long queue for the food according to her. Funny thing is when we reached, there was no one outside. Once we sat down, a long queue started forming outside. Lucky for us!

Bad service overall

Beef set meal

Although the quality of the beef I had was good, it was way too oily for me. I paid S$20 in total. There's a rule that S$2 would be charged per seat and we can each choose a drink. So it's a mandatory S$2 plus each seat has to order a dish. You're seriously bound by rules when you dine there.

Been trying to eat healthily recently for the sake of my digestive system. If I want it to continue working for the next couple of years.

Going to rest my eyes now before it rots further. I hope y'all are having a better start to the week compared to me (looking like a gargoyle). Have a lovely day and stay warm and dry and cute if it rains!

Taobao Haul

Hey gorgeous souls, I just uploaded my Taobao haul so do watch it here!

Besides receiving these Taobao items and American Eagle shipment over the past weekend, nothing else interesting happened. I was working on a group presentation and am pretty happy with the way everything turned out. Took so much revision from my group mate and me but it's done. But honestly, how exactly do you squeeze an entire explanation of a disorder into 20 minutes? Even my tutor needs 3 hours to go through 1 disorder we learn every week so...

Sundae has been up to no good recently. I've no idea what is up with her but she's been very into destroying my things lately. The strange thing is that she only disturbs me and not my sister. I posted this Instagram photo of her standing on my desk with all of my stuff strewn across the floor. Don't even know how she got up there in the first place but she tipped over the pouch which I usually bring out with me. My chapstick, lipstick, mini hand lotion, eye drop bottle, all fell out onto the floor. Have yet to check if the MAC lipstick is broken -_- I'm really thankful she didn't try to eat any of those even though my helper found the eye drop bottle in Sundae's nest. She must've been saving it for supper or something.

Hmm okay that's about all the updates I have for now :( Shall find something else to do while waiting for my hair to dry so I can sleep soon.

Bye!

Feels Like Insomnia

Who else went crazy online shopping during the whole Black Friday and Cyber Monday period? I know I did. Not regretting it at all because I know I'll love everything I ordered but... In just a weekend, I'm so much poorer. And this was money that took me so long (and hard) to set aside! I was literally scrimping every penny for the past few months. No joke.

List of stuff ordered:
1. Taobao (Placed my order a month ago but still awaiting the arrival of that one item argh)
2. Bath and Body Works (2 freakin' orders)
3. Forever 21 (Even though I just shopped in-store lol, do watch my haul video!)
4. American Eagle (Spent my gift card from dear Darren and I'm most excited about this shipment)
5. A couple of other online shops (Only an item from each so let's not count that in...)

So yes that's a basic summary of where my money went. I'm falling into the trap of festive season shopping. It used to be festive season depression (Seasonal Affective Disorder?) but somehow I've turned that depression into shopping and buying tons of crap because it feels good to.

But it's okay, shall stop beating myself up about it because I really need the 27 sweaters ordered

Going to be pretty busy with school these couple of weeks. That time of the year when every assignment and group project is due but you've done none of the above. All the research is going to drive me crazy. Having to sort out deadlines, which research is for what paper... Boring.

Plus I've been suffering from insomnia! Trying to sleep earlier but just end up rolling in bed till the early morning. So I just bought this aromatherapy oil and it seems to be helping. I mean it's 'only' 1:37am but I'm really tired.

Goodnight!

Inside My Closet

Not sure if anyone cares about what's inside my closet but since I'm proud of the way it's currently being organized, no harm in sharing. Hopefully it'll be somewhat useful for you.

I used to shop a lot, and when I say a lot, I mean helluva lot. Like not being able to live a day without buying an article of clothing/shoe/bag. That situation has improved over these past few months ever since my financial consultant started talking to me about savings and helping me to calculate some goals and whatnot. She's really really good at what she does. Not saying this just because she's my aunt!

Anyway, I don't have heaps of clothing sitting around because I believe in clearing the old so there's plenty more space for the new. Started selling some of my clothes online early this year as well as taking part in fleas in the past. (Did a mental calculation and think I've sold close to 400 items not including those that were given away omg!) Bottom line: clearing out your closet is vital to having an organized one full of clothes you'll actually wear. Makes it easier to look for stuff too.

My closet is a 3-door one that's from IKEA. When the delivery guys came over, I got to choose where exactly did I want the poles, shelves, and baskets. Really liked the idea of personalizing the inside of the closet instead of just buying a standard one with built-in drawers that will never be enough.

Inside the 1st door

Tops that are hanging are organized by:
1. Cutting (sleeveless to the long sleeved)
2. Color (light to dark and vice versa)

My dressier non-denim shorts are on the bottom left. Some newer skirts next to it on the right. I love keeping the sparkly one out there just because it looks pretty. Keeping newer items visible serves as a reminder for me to wear them soon.

The whole area behind is full of knits and tops that will stretch and spoil if they're hung on a hanger. I'm extremely anal about caring for my clothes because I value them a lot and it'd kill me if anything went out of shape just because I didn't store it properly. Do note that knits should always be folded and never hung unless you want to stretch a top into a dress! When you're drying them, drape it over a hanger instead of hanging it normally. Always make sure they're completely dry before keeping them. If not, the smell will literally take your breath away. A lesson I learned first-hand.

The shelf below holds my very limited collection of denim shorts. Need more for school but if I'm going to work in a year's time, would I wear them much? Next to it is a pile of lighter colored cardigans. The row behind (not pictured) stores darker colored cardigans and a huge Victoria's Secret box full of new lingerie. #tmi #hoarder

In the top metal drawer, there's my rainbow collection of camisoles and tank tops on the bottom left. Folded them such that colors can be seen easily. Above my camisoles and tanks are plain tee shirts that I need more of. Next to it are dressier skirts I should wear more often. Casual long sleeved shirts are folded below.

The bottom metal drawer houses my jeans and pants. On the left are jeans and on the right are pants.

Inside the 2nd door

Skirts are hung on the clip hangers in order of length. On each clip hanger I try to hang about 3 skirts. Always make sure the skirt the hanger is coming in direct contact with, will not have the imprint of the clip left on it when you take it out. I've seen so many skirts ruined at shops because of this. The storage hanger thing houses some of my smaller bags. My mom got it from Target in Australia. The purple hanger next to it is actually a belt hanger and I've many of my thinner belts hanging from it. You can't really see it though. The hot pink hanging storage houses some short sleeved outerwear and lingerie.

Inside the 3rd door

Blazers are hung in order of color on the left and dresses on the right are in order of color also. Below, I've 3 big Muji linen boxes that store clothes and my sheets.

If you've noticed, hangers I use for tops and blazers are the super thin kinds. Using these hangers has saved me so much space. If not for them, I don't think I'd have enough space on the pole to hang more clothes up. Also, standardizing the color for hangers makes everything seem more organized especially since the color of the inside of my closet is black.

So that's all my closet has to offer. I hope you've enjoyed reading this wordy entry and picked up some tips on how to treat your clothes right. Keep dry from the 4pm storms and have a not-so-shitty start to the week everyone!
