Bye Sunday

Kinokuniya was having their 20% members' sale this weekend so I finally got to get out of the house far far away from my books! Hmm that's ironic.

My hair was slightly wavy because I tried curling my hair and failed miserably. I've forgotten how to curl my own hair when I used to do it on game days in high school! Many many years ago ha. Not to mention it rained just as we were about to leave home so my hair went limp, sigh.

Judging from puffy eyes and eyebags, we're both seriously sleep-deprived, overworked, and super stressed ARRRGH. Okay back to textbooks :'(

Study Break

Haven't updated here in awhile because my exams start this coming Wednesday, and I haven't done anything much besides bum around at home. Can't wait to get these damned exams done and over with so I can get out of this damned country for a vacation I need.

And I haven't gone shopping in the past month or so in a desperate last minute attempt to save moolah. Life kinda sucks right now. UGH!

Friday Night Fright

On Friday, Mel and I met for dinner! Seems like we don't do anything else but eat. We went to Serangoon Gardens and walked around because neither or us could decide on anything, and I was saying no to many things haha! Found this new cafe called Chillax and decided to give it a try because we're such trendy hipsters.

 Black Truffle Capellini

Bangers and Mash

Truffle Fries

The total came up to about $53 and to be honest, I feel it wasn't worth it. Our orders really did not appeal to my taste buds at all. I had Bangers and Mash and only finished the dark brown bratwurst and mashed potatoes, leaving the rest on my plate untouched because I really didn't like the taste of the gray looking bratwurst. The truffle fries were dead (and tasted like MacD's fries, no truffle, according to Mel) and if there's any snack I hate, it's dead fries. Apparently Mel's pasta wasn't that impressive too :'(

Chillax looks really nice and probably is a great place to chill and have tea during the weekends but I'd think twice about returning.

Then we sat around because I couldn't decide where to go after, so we went to Coffee Bean. The amount of sugar I consumed that evening was amazing because during dinner, I had a cup of bubble tea already.

Ended the night having drinks at Sidewalk Deli which was so stuffy I died. Mel ordered a beer and kinda drank just the foam while I ordered an Italian Soda and felt like a diabetic ant after. It was one of the more random, do whatever evenings we've had but it's always nice to hang out and catch up on the most nonsensical things in our lives.

Till the next date!

Happy

Just had dinner awhile ago but looking at photos of food always makes me hungry. #firstworldproblems

I love it when Darren and I spend time together, when he's not being Mr. Grumpy. Had dinner at Wa again on Monday and it was bliss, mostly because Orchard was kinda empty and I was starving. We really need to find new places for food.

 My piggy companion at Wa.

This man needs a tan.

Even though my boyfriend is such a busy man, I love him for making time for me :-* And Sundae too!

Eye Spy

I'm on a roll! Here's introducing my humble collection of eyeliners that I currently am using. My MAC liquid eyeliner isn't here but it's alright because I rarely use it unless I'm partying. It's a little too harsh for daily use, I personally feel.

Dior Kohl Pencil Liner: Bought this from duty-free at the airport when I was traveling, only because my previous drugstore liner was running out. Now that I've found better liners, I really don't like the texture of this.

Bare Minerals Liner in Espresso: Love the color and great for day wear. However, the retractable function sucks because it sometimes just glides back in while I'm using it. Smudges easily without primer so definitely not waterproof like the lady at Sephora said.

Too Faced Liner in Perfect Black: Fav of the bunch! The color is a matte black and application is super smooth. It is waterproof so alright for day wear and nights out too. This was from Sephora as well.

After years of trying out eyeliners since high school days, I remember Physicians Formula to have one of the best pencil eyeliners but sadly that isn't available here. The Too Faced one definitely measures up because it's equally smooth-gliding, which means no tugging of delicate eyelids hurray!

The photo above is really random but I was so impressed by the fact that I actually finished using it to the last drop, especially since I've a new bottle of Sephora's makeup remover just waiting around. Usually when I buy something new, the old one gets left behind. That's really wasteful so yay for finishing up products and reducing wastage!

The Face Shop

Wanted to go out to buy some stuff but it was pouring and I was too lazy to deal with the rain, so I made some healthy Japanese green tea and decided to review products recently picked up from The Face Shop. Speaking of rain, I've been putting off buying a new umbrella because my dear Cotton On one has given up on me. I can even procrastinate buying an umbrella :)

So I ran out of many products for the past few weeks but never got down to buying new ones. My skin started breaking out crazily. It was horrible and still is but at least it's recovering.

My sister recently splurged on this Su Hyang Snow limited edition line at TFS and her skin is so bright and clear now so I wanted to give it a try. In the end I bought so many other things as well. The total for my purchase below was about $102 after a 10% member's discount. Never spent this much on skincare before (Sephora isn't counted) because my mom used to buy all these for me T.T

Su Hyang Snow Toner: I hate toner in general and haven't used any in years, but I love this. It controls oil on my face but there is no dryness/tightness as it's more of something that balances moisture level in skin. My face is healing thanks to this!

White Tree Snow Face Wash: Wasn't even planning to buy a face wash but was just randomly picking things off the shelves, and this's pretty alright. Clears my skin of any light makeup residue if I'm lazy and decide not to use a makeup remover.

Arsainte Eco-Therapy Line: My skin is very picky and I've been using the face moisturizer from this line for about 2-3 years and I love it. Not intending to change this out anytime soon.

Masks: Have yet to try because my dearest BFF Anna bought me this huge box of masks from Hong Kong awhile ago, which I haven't finished using yet. But these better be good because they're $4.90 each.

Hairbrush: This had a weird wooden(?) smell when I first opened it but thankfully it's gone now. All this while I've just been using a toothed comb from Muji but a brush might be better?

One of the main reasons why I went to TFS in the first place was because I really needed the facial mist which I had run out of and of course, I forgot all about it. So I went back again a few days later and at the same time decided I wanted new nail colors -.-

Pure Water Facial Mist (Jeju Marine): I love spritzing this on my face immediately after coming out of a shower. Can be used any time of the day for an instant burst of moisture and I love it.

That's all the products I got for now and hopefully my skin will get better very soon!

Real food at Newton

Had a late dinner at Newton Circus on Saturday and everything was so good omgawd. I remember mommy and daddy loved bringing the family there for dinner on weekends, until it got too crowded and dirty. This time when Darren and I went, it wasn't crowded because according to Darren, everyone was watching soccer.

Instead of ordering just root beer, I told the guy I wanted a root beer float without the float. WOWZ.

Whenever I have ice-kachang, it can only have brown sugar syrup on it and nothing else. Maybe I should just order a bowl of shaved ice next time without the ingredients which I don't eat anyway... I think the stall owner would be baffled.

Yay my Bath and Body Works candles arrived! Paid so much for these small babies. Am burning Pink Sangria now and it smells a little too sweet for me. Thank goodness I didn't order 2 of the same thing. Can't wait to try other scents soon!

Back to bumming on my bed :)

The Good Path

Let's take a moment to admire how beautiful this guy looks with his sequin cuff and his Monster headphones worth about $500.

Now back to reality with an OOTD! Have been wanting to take more photos but usually after dressing up, I'm in a rush.

Went to the post office at Ion and trekked Forever21 and H&M to look for more workout clothes. I find wearing big and loose clothes to exercise very uninspiring when I'm trying to get my body back in shape, so I'm on the lookout for tanks and cute shorts.

Can't wait to order a couple more sports bras from AE.com when I have the chance to because it's extremely comfortable and my girls don't feel squashed. That usually happens when I wear my Nike sports bras... Maybe they're the wrong size especially when I like to think I'm slimmer than I actually am.

I went to The Face Shop on Thursday and finally splurged on some skincare products that I just started using. Shall do a review on the items soon!

ThaiToGo.com

This is a rant entry on my used-to-be-favorite delivery restaurant, Thai To Go. I placed an order on the 1st of May which was May Day, a public holiday, and was so happy that they were open for business. Well the $66 I spent wasted could've been put to better use at McDelivery.com.

1. I ordered Deep Fried 3 Flavored Tofu but somehow the order was changed to Sweet and Sour Sauce Tofu.

2. Both Pad Thai Beef and Chicken had a chunk of chilli flakes in them though I specially requested and repeated thrice for no chilli because Darren is deathly allergic to it.

So when I made a call to the restaurant, I spoke to a lady first who then transferred to another lady, who then transferred to another lady, who then... Yes you get the idea. Only the 4th lady I spoke to was the one who actually took my order and I swear she had this very challenging tone when I told her my order was wrong.

She lectured me saying, "Cannot be that you ordered the deep fried one because I repeated your order TWICE and you were okay with it, so it CANNOT be that the order is wrong. You said okay when I repeated your order. It can't be wrong. Then for your Pad Thai the receipt states no chilli but your order has chilli is it? The best I can do is give you a $10 voucher for your next order."

IS THAT THE WAY TO SPEAK TO A CUSTOMER?!???!!! WHAT'S WITH THE STRICT AND ACCUSATORY TONE?!?!??? I was seriously fuming because how do you argue based on something that was heard. Plus I must add that I don't think she was paying very close attention when I gave her my order because I had to repeat myself so many times. And I did not hear Sweet and Sour Sauce Tofu at all.

This will be the last time I'm ordering from them. Have ordered from them about 4x in total and to think every time I order it's always $50-$90 that I spend and this is the service I get in return?! I'm not one of those anal customers who expect first class service when I'm only paying that amount, but as someone with about 4 years of experience in the service line, I expect basic courtesy and manners when it comes to customer service!

Ugh, needless to say it was a meal I did not enjoy so the next time you want to order from them, think twice for your money's sake.
