Obsessed!

Nibbling on Ruffles chips now and I'm so going to regret this if I wake up with a sore throat tomorrow, but what's a lazy and hungry girl to do!

I've been pretty preoccupied with my phone lately. It's like I haven't yet come to terms with the fact that yes this is my phone and I'll only have to bring one phone around now instead of the usual two. Previously it'll be Mom's iPhone and my Nokia, but now, it's just my one phone.

Point of this entry is that I've been trying out photo editing apps and they're so fun! When I've time to spare, out comes the phone and the doodling on random photos.

Hi Meow and her beloved BM

Grumpy as usual

Mood: t(-_-t)

Spicy Tonkotsu ramen with flavored egg

This is the lil' ramen restaurant at Tanjong Pagar. I'm not sure of the exact name, maybe it's Keisuke(?) but anyway it's relatively famous because of the authenticity of the ramen and soup base etc. I've eaten here about 3x before this and really liked it. However, this recent trip was so bad! The reason why Darren was grumpy was because the place was so dirty and both of us were perspiring madly just sitting there. Do take note of what he was wearing...

For example, I found egg shells in the container holding the soup spoons! The table was oily, the container holding the bean sprouts was super oily and had soup splattered all over it, the hard boiled eggs in the basket had soup splattered over them. It was gross. Maybe the fact that we decided to go last minute at around 9.45pm is the reason why the restaurant was in such a state. I'm not sure but I'll definitely rethink my next trip there. Darren already said he'll never dine there again.

Back to the original topic of phone apps:

Haven't even worn this out yet haha

Do you suffer from this?

Because I do! I'm also deathly afraid of wearing the same outfit twice. Wasteful much? I'm sure I'm not alone in this ;)

This is what happens to people who ignore me:

You're welcome.

It's Thursday already which means the weekend's almost here. Hang in there, everyone!

My very own iPhone ♥

I'm now the proud owner of my very own iPhone (thanks to Daddy) :-*

Yes I've been using an iPhone 3 since last year when Mom left for Perth and gave me hers, but after all it's not really mine. There's no sense of belonging if you get what I mean.

I decided to change my phone (finally) because 1. Darren lost his and had to buy a new one = envy. 2. Mommy needs an iPhone in Perth so that she can communicate easily with us. Currently, only Daddy has an iPhone there and Mom only gets to Whatsapp us when he's home from work blah blah boring details. So now my grandmother who's going over to visit soon can fly this iPhone 3 over to her while I've my own!

The one I wanted to get was a 4S because I didn't really see the need in spending so much on the iPhone 5. Plus it seems to be out of stock everywhere? When I told the salesperson I wanted a 4S, she gave me a look of shock (I felt hurt) and asked, "Why do you want a 4S?!?!?! There's already a 5 and you want a 4??? So, which color of the 5 would you like?" She practically forced it upon me but I'm really thankful she did that. Everyone else was telling me to get the 5 but I didn't want to, but I guess there's no choice when you're being forced by a salesperson who refuses to accept 4S for an answer.

The thing that seriously puzzled me was, whenever people asked the counters if they've anymore stock for the iPhone 5, they'll just point to the signboard that states that all iPhones are out of stock. On the other hand, I've this salesperson who practically pushed the iPhone 5 to me with everyone looking at it in awe. Same thing happened to Darren! The lady asked if he wanted the iPhone 5 and the entire process was wrapped up in 30mins. While next to him there were unhappy people asking when would the next batch of iPhone 5 come in and making a whole lot of noise. Note that we went on separate occasions alone so I didn't need his charm to get it okay >:-}

It could be sheer luck? I don't know but I'm very very happy. Looking forward to taking better quality photos (while my sad camera is further neglected). Oh and I'm more excited about buying clothing and ribbons and pretty things for the phone than the phone itself. Phone accessory shopping tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday everyone ☀

Post-Exams: I'm alive!

Exams ending didn't mean all fun and happiness for me. It was rather... bad. But I'm not going to go into details because I'm trying to be positive!

Finally tried something new but didn't like it

SEKSY BEAST

I don't like publishing fitting room photos but these blouses are so preeeetty!

Really wanted the pale pink one but... I've like 20 new blouses that haven't been worn yet?! :(

Tip for a compulsive shopper! Go to the fitting room to try on the 874623428 pieces that you've picked out. Then take a photo of you wearing each item and see if you can Whatsapp your BFF/parents/BF/GF for opinions on whether or not you should get it. (Make sure your phone is on silent mode and doesn't make a sound when you take a photo. It'll be weird being next to a fitting room with a person taking a gazillion photos.)

When I'm not sure if something looks good on me, it's always good to get a second opinion. But the sad thing for me is that every single person I ask gives me unhelpful replies like,

"Don't you have something like that?"
"Didn't you just go shopping?"
"Didn't you already buy that the last time?"
"Why are you shopping again?"

The list goes on and that is precisely the reason why an obsessive compulsive shopper like me should seek a second opinion. To remind myself that I don't exactly need the item :( Also, taking these photos means you can have a second look at them later on if you're still shopping and if you really like it, you can always go back for it.

Be sure not to hog the room for too long though, we all wouldn't want to be waiting too long to try on clothes so please be considerate to others too!

Tried something new and didn't like it AGAIN  >:-/

My go-to place for fast food ramen is Ajisen and I've to say, the outlet at Bishan Junction 8 is the worst of the lot! The few times I've been there, I always feel like vomiting during/after my meal because there is absolutely no air in that restaurant. It's stifling and just a plain horrid environment to try to digest a meal.

I had that as a #foreveralone celebratory lunch for myself after my last paper. See how it started off terrible! Then D said to meet up for dinner though he had to rush off for a boat party. #foreveralone

Didn't know there was Sushi Tei at the top level of Ngee Ann City so we ate there, because I didn't want to walk anymore.

Ordered so much because I'm greedy by nature.... And had an upset stomach after.

Oh well here's to a happy Sunday for everyone!

Pre-Exams Rant

Exams officially start this week and here I am doing some last minute revision. It really did help that I have perfect attendance in tutorials for 3 out of 4 of my modules this semester. Certain information that I'm studying from the Powerpoint slides now are actually familiar and not foreign. Compared to the past few semesters which I had no idea what I was doing...

Been doing quite a bit of shopping lately as well. The funny thing is I'm shopping for clothes to wear on my vacation when the aim was to bring an empty suitcase and buy everything there, like I usually do. Shall just blame it on the pre-exam stress and boredom because my parents and Darren are all too busy to care about me #somature.

Sundae loves parcels too!

GAH! Not all are mine, thankfully

Taobao has been my go-to place for clothes these past couple weeks. As gratifying as it was to shop at the local Forever 21 and try on the items before purchasing them, it still brings me extreme satisfaction to be able to get good quality clothes for so much cheaper. I'd like to think my standard of Chinese also improved during this period of time.

Warning: Rant ahead!

Sometimes, I don't get it when people think that items on Taobao are of bad quality because it's all 'Made in China'. It should come as no surprise that most clothes we purchase from Forever 21, H&M, and other chain retail stores are all made in countries like Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, etc. So why does buying directly from these manufacturers immediately mean that the item is of a lesser quality?

When I visited Vietnam, I saw locals selling items from Hollister, Abercrombie, and American Eagle at the wholesale centers. I got to touch the fabric and examine the item first-hand. Guess what? They're of the exact same quality as those I bought in America. Many of the clothing I bought in America were tagged 'Made in Vietnam'. Logically speaking and after careful examination (because I hate hate hate fake goods), this means those in Vietnam were 99% authentic! I'm stating that percentage because there's always room for error in case somebody thinks I'm really wrong about this. I've taken into account that there could be many reasons why those locals were selling those brands (not going to get into that).

Imagine a blouse (Made in Vietnam) being sold in Vietnam for 2USD and in America for 35USD. If you think the 35USD one is better just because it's being sold in America... Does that judgement even make sense? Hellooo the extra cost is added to pay for shipping and tax incurred. The quality is still the same! Adding 33USD to the price doesn't mean the cotton suddenly got 97% purer during shipment.

Maybe some prefer the idea of stepping into the boutique of that actual brand and buying items from the store itself. I do that myself so no judgement there! But if you were to pre-judge and scoff at the quality of items just hearing where they're made, even before checking the items out yourself, I suggest for you to get off your high horse and accept the fact that your $125 branded blouse is being made in the exact same countries you've turned your nose up on.

My boring humble wardrobe

This is my 3-door wardrobe. Initially I confidently told my parents, oh I only need a 2-door one and probably another glass cabinet to display/store my bags because I don't want my tiny room to be so cramped with furniture. Mom was deadly against the idea of that and insisted on getting a 3-door wardrobe first, then adding on other furniture if needed. I gave in to her just to keep her quiet, and thank goodness I did. Just clothes are taking up so.much.space. I don't know how I would've survived with a 2-door wardrobe. At the rate I'm going, my parents think I should just move into a storage box and store myself in it as well.

But give up shopping? Never.

Okay back to studying I've spent way too much time here!

The week ends

Love waking up to this

Previously it was my dad who would buy this for me on some weekend mornings, but now I ask Darren to get it if he doesn't need to go to work super early. I love this beehoon for breakfast even though it's super oily and all, a once in a while treat.

Been craving so much food these few days because I've two huge mouth/tongue ulcers that have been around for almost a week and it's extremely painful to chew or eat anything because of their locations. It's been impossible to enjoy food and it's so frustrating.

Both dressed up for different events. Look at Sun's round butt!

At Speakeasy; dressed for the Prohibition theme (Mel's photo)

Ulcers so bad I ordered bread $6

A surprise party was planned for Ed but the huge surprise was that I was too late for the surprise part which's no surprise actually. It was held at Speakeasy located in Tanjong Pagar, and honestly I don't think I'll ever go back again. The food took ages, and the service was not that fantastic as there was this lady manager who liked insisting on whatever she said to be right. So okay then.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ED! (Mel's photo)

While I was at the party, Darren went to the Manhunt finals. Was still hungry so I met him and his friends at Lao Pa Sat. Didn't eat anything because almost all the food stalls were closed. The BBQ area was pretty stinky so I didn't want to stay there for food. Decided to go all the way to Geylang for frogs' legs!

Best part, I saw an entire line-up of prostitutes along one of the small lanes. In the dark I thought they were flags hung on this fence but turns out they're human beings. There were so many of them and they were all swarming around that particular lane. There were many Indians/Bangladeshis swarming around them too. The way these prostitutes work is they'll just pull on the shirt of any man who walks by and probably start discussing their 'price' right there. Quite interesting to witness this first-hand. Not to mention, the taxi I was in was a mini bus haha!

3 frogs for $22

Let sleeping dogs lie

Mousing it up trying an iPhone app

My eyebags have been so huge lately (pic on left) so I tried this app that helps beautify my skin and whatnot (pic on right). Is there even any difference besides the obvious piece of cheese?

BFF's advice

The weather has been pretty bad which's the reason why I've been sick for almost a week now. Hopefully I'll recover soon so I can go back to the gym, go out without feeling like I'm dying, and have good food. Plus my exams are round the corner, sigh.

On a brighter note, I'll be traveling on my birthday all thanks to my boyfriend! Iinitially I was so upset we wouldn't be able to go anywhere. He told me he couldn't get away from work especially since he already went on his Texas trip earlier this year, and that it would be better if we just stay in Singapore. Gah he's so annoying for making me so exasperated but now, I feel guilty (for being mad) and happy!

Have a great week ahead, everyone!

Behind Closet Doors

"One day, you're 17 and planning for someday.
And then quietly, without you ever really noticing,
someday is today.
And then someday is yesterday.
And this is your life."

Was scrolling through my Tumblr and chanced upon that quote which I reblogged sometime back. It could not be more true. School aside, time is passing by so fast that I wish it would stop for awhile for me to realize what I'm doing with my life. Hmm okay that really got me thinking.

Did some shopping yesterday and seems like I'm not the only one happy with whatever I got ↓

That's a pretty expensive nest you've got there, Sunsun

Forever 21 has some pretty nice apparels now. Funny thing about F21 is you never know when they'll have a nice or an extremely crappy batch of clothes. A couple months ago before summer, it was really bad so I didn't shop there for awhile.

I've been really into closet decor and organization recently because I'm trying to clear out my wardrobe and it's helpful to know in what way should I organize such that my wardrobe can be a functional one.

It's pretty scary to realize half of the clothes in my wardrobe are all still unworn! Used to have the bad habit of constantly buying even before wearing stuff I already have... I had so much clothing that visibility of new clothes was 0%, which meant I would not even think about wearing them because I've already forgotten about them.

I started packing my clothes into what should be hung, what should be folded, and what should be kept in drawers but still accessible. Maybe I'll take some photos when I'm actually done packing.

When I've my own place, so much emphasis is going to be put into interior design and functionality. I guess it's due to the influence of my parents that I'm such a stickler for decor at home. For as long as I can remember, family outings during some weekends meant driving around looking for a teak study desk at Dempsey, a new bookshelf at a secluded Scanteak warehouse, or any form of furniture to add on to whatever they're planning for the house. They did the exact same thing when we lived in America, and they're still doing the exact same thing now in Australia! That explains the amount of wooden furniture we have at home. They bought so much furniture in America that we had to give away the existing ones at home in order for there to be space when we came back... Which was the entire living room!

My parents love all things country evidently. Their place in Australia is slowly filling up :-/

Who doesn't love a beautiful home? I know I do.

Have a lovely day y'all!
