Ted
This is exactly how I look fresh out of a bath and sprawled on my bed reading when I have some time at night. Add a mug of iced green tea at my bedside table for the hot summer nights we've had and ta-dah, instant relief of all stress I've felt in the day.
I'm always happy to experience new input of information/words which come(s) in the form of a thick book.
If you're following me on Instagram, which I tend to update more often, there's a photo of a new batch of books I recently got together with my BFF. I am so grateful that she asked if I wanted to purchase books because they're my only source of entertainment when I don't want to be on my Mac/iPad/iPhone browsing through social media sites or watching dramas after dramas.
I've started on three books and am done with one; Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close. The one I'm actively reading is The Stranger Beside Me authored by Ann Rule. Love it! At first, it seems like this odd mix between fiction and non-fiction but the sad fact is that it's real. It helps that at the same time I'm reading this, I'm using Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of Psychopaths Among Us as a reference book. Certainly gives me more insight into the minds of people we wish did not exist.
Oh and earlier on as I was walking alone to the bus stop after class, I couldn't help but think about Ted Bundy and the number of victims who weren't yet aware of such evil in this world.

To-do
It's just the beginning of hell week for me. Project work and individual submissions will all be due these upcoming weeks and it's driving me nuts just thinking about the amount of stuff to be done. Not to mention planning classes for next semester so I can graduate on time.
I've so many things I want to accomplish by this year and a few that can be done immediately are:
1. Clearing my closet
- I have bags of clothes that I didn't manage to clear at the flea market and it's frustrating how they're just lying there. It's tiring just thinking about participating in another flea.
2. Finances
- Planning out my finances so I will be able to go somewhere during my birthday (read: spa trip) as well as maybe a grad trip next year.
3. School
Funny how school is placed last even though it is the one thing that'll affect the bigger picture of my life ha-ha. How do you have a grad trip when you can't graduate?
School is such a struggle because it feels like it's me against a system. You won't believe the kind of treatment and student services the school renders.
On the brighter side of life, the only thing I've been looking forward to is working my ass off in the gym. The kind of exhilaration you get after a workout is indescribable. I feel like I'm glowing inside out after every session. Lovelovelove it! Outside the gym, the world can disappoint you and do all kinds of damage to you but in the gym, you're in total control of what you want to achieve and can therefore push yourself towards a goal without anyone but yourself getting in the way.
Maybe I should bring that determination into the real world.
Back to work I go!

Can't beat Batam
Been having such a rough couple of days so I thought writing up this post would make me feel a little better. Even though it was just Batam, the company made all the difference.
The ferry ride was beyond bad. There was a screaming kid and a bunch of teenagers/army boiiz that made the ride a really memorable one. I have never heard so many Hokkien vulgarities used in a single sentence. Like how conversations are usually punctuated with commas or periods, theirs was punctuated with vulgarities so just imagine the frequency. My ears were practically bleeding by the end of the ride. Oh and when we were still approximately 5km away from Batam, people were frantically rushing down to the lower deck of the ferry. I mean, is there an option of swimming to the island that I'm unaware of?
Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay was the saving grace to this short getaway. Good service and an enjoyable experience overall. The in-house/hotel spa massage was good too. Due to Hari Raya, all other massage places were closed or fully-booked so we settled for the one in the hotel. We tried again and again to get an appointment because they were fully-booked and thank goodness we all managed to get a slot. I had to have my massage in my room because their rooms were all full. My 90-minute massage cost about S$45 which's pretty okay.
Packing "light" |
I have a love for luxe hotel beds with freshly laundered sheets |
We were fortunate enough to get a good view of the pool. Mel had a view of a wall.
First thing we all did was order food. Everyone was dying of hunger and I was just hungry throughout the entire trip. The mains we ordered were pretty good but not the soup or mochaccino. If I had realized earlier that there was J.CO donuts and coffee nearby...
Literal ghost town |

Nagoya Hills |
Nasty AnW |
♥♥ |
Got a shock when I saw this girl just lying there watching videos on her cellphone |
The most interesting thing we did at Nagoya Hills was shopping at the grocery store. Everything is super cheap there.
We had dinner at Wey Wey and afterwhich, we all came up with this slogan:
NO WAY TO WEY WEY
8) |
I don't usually behave like a bitch (outside of home) but damn did this restaurant get me riled up. And yes I gave the in-charge or whoever a huge piece of my mind. Darren should've done it with his sleeves rolled up but his Mandarin sucks like no other.
1. Waited 45mins for food
2. Food we ordered given to neighboring tables hence the wait
3. Waited 15mins for the bill
4. Subpar food not worth the wait
Ended the night pretty pissed but the very luxe hotel bed and a long shower definitely eased my frustrations. Wanted to visit the pool but there's always a but.
The next morning, I couldn't wake up in time for breakfast and apparently threw a tantrum at Darren blaming him for it (lol) before going back to sleep again, only to wake up and forget that I ever did. He is so kind to me.
We walked to BFC, a pirated version of KFC, and had some MSG-laden noodles. I know so because I'm highly allergic to MSG. The best dish was the deep fried nuggets.
The Liverpool cafe that was |
Introducing the best thing in Batam: J.CO DONUTS AND COFFEE. The best (and only) donut I had was the one with a mixture of chocolate and banana. Darren ate 4 donuts in total because he took one of mine without asking. Naturally, I forgave him.
Amazing hazelnut latte with a donut on the house |
We had dinner buffet in the hotel because of the "No Way to Wey Wey" act that was passed. It was good. Maybe because I was starving but it was still good and so cheap! Cheap food in a luxurious hotel is always nice.
DA BOMB. Chicken + french beans = I had 8 cups of this |
Equally delicious fried rice + sambal |
And it's bye bye to polluted waters of Batam!
I had a pleasant Saturday out with friends and I hope you did too. Gotta love weekends.

Review: Dr. Jart BB Creams
If you haven't already checked out my review on the Dr. Jart BB Creams...
Should you be interested in purchasing the Silver/Black Label BB Creams, I highly suggest you get them from my favorite online beauty store. I've compared the prices of Dr. Jart BB Creams from Sephora to drugstores and it's definitely the cheapest here.
On top of that, do check out my banner link for a discount code! No harm in saving another few dollars off an already good price right?
Happy Sunday and happy shopping!

Closet Wars
We are all fighting our own battles.
For me, it's a never-ending struggle when it comes to packing my closet and dealing with school (that's a given). Just yesterday I had a horrible evening because I had my time planned out perfectly so I'd be punctual for class but my friend and I ended up waiting 40mins for a bus, which resulted in us being 40mins late for lecture. When I got home, I was starving and still fuming. Naturally, I started packing my closet. Yea it may be a sign of OCD because I'm trying to achieve some sense of perfection in one aspect of my life to make up for a void in another blah blah but damn just being able to indulge my senses with the presence of clothes made me feel tons better.
That is veering slightly off-topic but the point is, packing my closet was tough because of the amount of things I have in there currently. I did a pictorial tour of my closet before but it has changed a lot since then. Thanks to the WWW and YouTube gurus, I am slowly but surely mastering the art of maintaining a closet that's suited to my needs.
The reason why I am even sharing this is because I feel it's really important to understand what your closet needs VS wants. E.g. for students, clothes that can be considered staples are: tank tops, denim shorts, simple blouses. When I came up with this list a couple months back, I was so determined to buy at least 10 new pairs of denim shorts because it's something I "need" as a student and you can never have too many pairs of shorts, right? However, friends who were already working warned me that the amount of shorts I already own would suffice as I'd be graduating soon and those shorts would be sitting in my closet for the rest of my life, therefore occupying a significant amount of closet space. They were speaking from personal experience.

List: Taobao Stores
Realized I should've published a blog post on this longgg ago but for some reason it hasn't occurred to me till now.
Since my first Taobao haul uploaded on YouTube, I've been getting emails asking for the exact links of items and also a list of my favorite stores. Unfortunately, I'm usually unable to provide the exact links of items as my hauls are filmed perhaps weeks or in this case two months after I receive my items. By this time, the items aren't in stock anymore or I don't save the links of items or my Taobao cart is full of new items added right after my existing purchase is done. Woes of a shopaholic.
As for my favorite stores, this was the first list I sent to people who've emailed me.
I am now going to add on a few newer stores to that list so for people who've emailed me before, just add on these new ones will do!
If you see an item you like in any of the stores but the price is out of your budget, copy and paste the important parts of the item name and make use of the search function to find the same item elsewhere for probably only half the price. For e.g. 蕾丝 (lace) 西装 (blazer/vest) 碎花 (florals) 短袖 (short sleeves) 上衣 (top) 九份裤 (capri-length pants)
Have a happy weekend browsing!
