Day 2 of enjoying Taiwan om nom nom.
I wanted to have lunch at Dazzling Cafe, which is supposedly really popular in Taipei recently according to the hotel receptionist. She gave us directions for it but it was so confusing, and we ended up going to the wrong outlet. Instead of going to the outlet which's located in an alley, we went to the one in Breeze Center which's a mall.
We should have this in Singapore! The raging war against uncles and aunties who take advantage of the situation.
Alighted at Zhongxiao Fuxing station to begin our walk.
In order to find the cafe, we walked and walked and walked with the help of a map on my phone. It was horrible! We walked for a good 25mins and decided to ask for directions at Breeze Center which led us to the outlet inside.
On the hunt for handbags! |
Another version of Topshop |
Juicy Couture at Breeze Center had a wider selection of items than the store in Ngee Ann City! Wanted to see their selection of handbags but food was more important to me at that point in time.
TA-DAH |
Wanted to steal the blue couch |
Dazzling Apple Soda |
Dazzling Pineapple Soda |
Italian Seafood Risotto |
Beef Sandwich |
Can't remember the exact prices but I believe the meal totaled to about SGD50+. Could be more but I really can't remember. The food is not exactly fantastic but I did enjoy my meal. Syrup and soda can't go wrong and the risotto was enjoyable. I can't say the same for the beef sandwich but Darren finished it.
Darren's friend, Vivian, said he would cycle to where we were and he suddenly popped up at the cafe just as we were leaving and bedazzled the staff. He very kindly brought us around the area for the afternoon. According to him, Breeze Center is one of the most upscale malls in Taipei and we were pretty near the 'Orchard' area where there was more shopping. We went trekking through small streets full of little stores. It's hard to imagine their city area as that because all their buildings are shorter and they don't have many malls like we do. Their shops are scattered here and there, which deterred me from shopping because I'm lazy.
Many many tiny restaurants and cafes |
Who can haz blue hair? |
We parted at that area but made plans to meet again at Raohe for food. He gave us directions on how to get to Wufenpu and Raohe. I think the thing that tired me out the most the entire trip was getting to places!!!!! All the walking and navigating Z_Z
We took a train to Yongchun station and started walking from there. Entered a small road because I saw that there was a market and I wanted to see how their markets were like.
MESS OMG |
We stumbled upon Wufenpu. Didn't even realize we were in the district until I saw a small overhead signboard. Also, I believe we only browsed a small section of it because on our way to Raohe, we saw so many more stores outside. It didn't matter because I didn't buy anything haha! They specialize more in wholesale so I don't think I would've gotten anything cheap if I bought just one.
I went into this Korean-esque store and the lady quoted me a price of 75SGD for a pair of basic black shorts (something you can buy at F21 for S$25). When she quoted me the price, she showed it to me on a calculator but when the locals asked her, she'd tell them the price aloud. I hate it when people are so blatant about cheating money!
This brown sugar pearl drink was so good! I had to ask the lady what's 'fen yuan' and she gave me a weird look and realized I'm probably not a local. It's just pearls! And the drink was so refreshing omg I want it now.
Getting to Raohe was another obstacle. We were lost and stood outside a store selling porn videos (haha) before deciding to just take a taxi because it was dark and we were hungry. No idea why I wanted to join Amazing Race with Mel thinking that we might win.
Met up with Vivian again who introduced us to the nicer foods at this night market. We had this steak set meal thing at a shop which was alright. It was pretty awkward eating because all the staff were staring... Nothing compares to the actual snacks we had from the stalls!
Choc/Banana pancake they were in love with |
BEST OYSTERS EVER |
If you're a fan of oysters, you must must must have the grilled oysters at Raohe. It tastes of the ocean and was so.freaking.good. I miss this so much! And a plate of this only costs 100TWD (4SGD), so cheap! I was the only one enjoying this, Darren and Vivian are not fans of seafood :'(
Popiah ice-cream with peanut shavings |
We ate and ate and finally decided it was time to head back to XMD.
26 is the new 21 |
How to spend your holidays |
VSPink PJs are the best! |
We had braised pork rice takeout for supper and couldn't stop eating this the rest of the trip. It was so sinful with all the oil and salt but delicious.
I think I've some photos taken with my iPhone instead of my camera. Maybe that'll be another entry haha!
Day 3 of Taiwan coming up ;)
